Frequent Flyers
UniquePhones > Travel > Frequent FlyersThe problem a business person who spends a great deal of time flying both domestically and internationally encounters is incredibly high rates for cell phone roaming charges. Of course, it is a business expense but there isn't a corporation around who isn't trying to save money.
Most executives have researched cost effective provider plans along with a phone that works best for them, yet trips to Europe or Asia with phone bills in the thousands seem unavoidable at times.
With an unlocked GSM phone, it is possible to use a global SIM card and bring the cost down to a very inexpensive amount. Many business will say they need itemized calling bills or that they can't afford to change their phone numbers when using another SIM card. Yet if thousands of dollars are saved on one business trip and the expense of a $100 SIM card is handed in on an expense account, there's probably not a corporation who would complain.
Many frequent flyers are now doing exactly this. By either using a global roaming SIM card or a country specific SIM card, they can stay in touch cheaper and easier. Having the card ahead of time, they know what their phone number will be and can simply forward all calls from both their usual cell phone number and office straight into the card they use for that trip.
If there are a handful of European countries a person visits, one type of card may make sense yet if a person travels to various Asian countries, another one might. Check comparison rates to see how much you may be losing or could be saving.
Many - almost 31% - of people who travel on business carry at least two cellphones. One for business, one for personal and even backups for those. If traveling lighter is a goal, a global SIM card may be the answer to at least a couple of pieces of equipment.
