Local SIM Card Buy minutes prior to departure or top up your minutes almost anywhere. In the U.K. post offices along with convenience stores all display provider logos so topping up is very simple. As always, you can call the provider toll free and add minutes as well.
Money ATMs are everywhere although the best exchange rates are usually at banks. Some of the larger stores such as Tesco also offer good rates.

The major credit cards are also widely accepted.

Traveler’s checks are still accepted at hotels and larger stores but are losing in popularity. Don’t count on using them in smaller villages and towns.
Electrical The United Kingdom is 240 V.

Square three prong plugs are standard. You will need not only adaptors but convertors unless your electronics have a built in dual capability. Purchase adaptors prior to departure so you are prepared. While these are widely available once there, it is simpler to already have them rather than spend time seeking them out.
